1,000 Acre Brush Fire Burns in Florida

March 26, 2007
Officials say the area affected is mainly hunting camps, anything from a lean-to to a double-wide or log cabin.

Firefighters will work through Sunday night in an attempt to control a 1,000 acre brush fire in southeastern Polk County near Walk-In-Water Rd. and Indian Lake Estates.

A spokesperson for the Division of Forestry says that a few hundred structures have been destroyed as a result of the fire.

Officials say the area affected is mainly hunting camps, anything from a lean-to to a double-wide or log cabin.

There have been no injuries reported and none of the surrounding residential areas have been evacuated at this time.

Dry weather conditions and wind are contributing to the fire, making it hard for rescue workers to contain or put out.
