WHITE WATER, Calif. (AP) -- A wildfire burned about 200 acres and threatened 15 homes and a privately operated fish hatchery Tuesday, authorities said.
About 100 firefighters battled the blaze, which began about 12:30 p.m. and burned in a rural area in Whitewater Canyon about 10 miles outside of Palm Springs, said Patrick Chandler, a spokesman for the California Department of Forestry and Riverside County fire departments.
No injuries were reported.
Several airplanes and four helicopters dropped water or fire suppressant on the blaze that was contained about 6 p.m., authorities said.
