The 2018 Mullane Symposium was developed to honor A. Michael Mullane, the former 3rd District Vice President of the International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF). Mullane was a 43-year veteran of the Boston Fire Department when he passed away in 2016.
Mullane was a fixture in the IAFF and Boston's Local 718 and this event carries on his legacy to ensure that all firefighters have the chance to enjoy a long healthy and safe career.
This year's event takes place May 8-10 at Florian Hall in Boston and has two tracks dedicated to firefighter health and safety and high-rise and complex operations.
Sessions in the Health and Safety Track include "Fire Ground Burn Injuries: What Every Firefighter Needs to Know," "Pension Health, Pension Wellness," and "Career Survival Training."
"High-Rise Emergency Operations - A Moving Target" and "Tall Wood Buildings: The North American Effort" will be included in the High Rise and Complex Operations track.
Thursday's closing Keynote will cover the response and aftermath of the deadly October 2017 shooting on the Las Vegas Strip.
Kelly Blackmon, Jesse Gomez and Steve Thompson will look at how Clark County and other area fire departments are working with responders to address the long-term effects of responding to the mass shooting.
