CA Firefighters Face Second Massive Lumberyard Fire

A large, five-alarm fire broke out Tuesday morning at a Stockton lumberyard, fire and police officials say.
The Stockton Police Department tweeted at 6:10 a.m. that firefighters were battling a “5-alarm pallet fire” near the 1800 block of E. Market Street, and that streets in the immediate area are closed.
Stockton Firefighters Local 456 tweeted just before 5:40 a.m. that all Stockton fire units in the city have been assigned to the fire, and in an update just before 6:30 a.m. said that county strike teams have responded for backup as the blaze has extended from the yard into warehouses.

About 8:30 a.m., Stockton Firefighters Local 456 retweeted a report saying the fire was under control, with one shed having collapsed. There have been no reports of injuries or the fire spreading outside the lumberyard.
Three weeks earlier, firefighters battled a massive, six-alarm blaze that started at another Stockton industrial lumberyard, this one in the 200 block of West Scotts Avenue. The fire broke out overnight, destroyed the lumberyard and knocked out power to more than 15,000 Pacific Gas and Electric Co. customers in Stockton.
