More than 60 Baltimore City firefighters battled a four-alarm fire at a vacant warehouse Monday night.
The blaze broke out at around 7:30 p.m. at the three-blocks-long building in West Baltimore, and it sent thick plumes of smoke into the air, WJZ-TV reports. No one was hurt in the fire.
“Once we were able to break windows and gain some entry from the outside that’s when firefighters were faced with an immense amount of fire,” Baltimore City firefighter Blair Adams told WJZ.
Residents in the area were warned to keep their windows shut while firefighters were still battling the blaze. An air quality check also was planned to ensure no one was breathing in hazardous materials, WJZ reports.
One firefighter battling the blaze was taken to the hospital with a minor injuries, according to The Baltimore Sun.
