A Utica firefighter suffered minor injuries in the early Monday incident that had crews evacuating homes after a shed, a tree and two buildings caught fire.

UTICA, NY—A city firefighter was taken to urgent care Tuesday for minor injuries suffered at an early morning fire at a Kemble Street home.

The Utica Fire Department responded to the 1200 block of Kemble Street just before 5 a.m. and found the entire rear half of a building, a shed, a tree and a neighboring building on fire, officials said.

Firefighters evacuated neighboring homes and began attacking the fire, getting it under control around 6:30 a.m., officials said. Firefighters remained for several hours looking for hot spots.

Authorities said the cause of the fire and where it originated is still under investigation.
