Crews from multiple North Carolina fire departments battled a large fire at a furniture manufacturer that injured one firefighter last week.
The blaze broke out after 10:30 p.m. Thursday at a 12,400 square foor commercial building just up from the Rocky Mount Fire Department's headquarters, according to photographer Bob Bartosz. Once firefighters arrived at the scene, they called for additional units from the department, as well as crews from four Nash County fire departments.
More than 90 firefighters and EMS members responded to the fire. Railroad traffic was shut down near the blaze to allow firefighters to set up along the tracks across from the building.
Flames eventually collapsed the building's roof, and it took crews more than five hours to contain the blaze, with firefighters remaining at the scene to put out hot spots, according to Bartosz. One firefighter suffered minor injuries battling the blaze, but no other injuries were reported.
