AL Firefighter Injured in House Blaze that Critically Burned Man

A 65-year-old man suffered significant second- and third-degree burns to about 45% of his body from a fire that broke out at a home in Mobile early Friday.

A man is in critical condition after suffering second- and third-degree burns in a Mobile house fire Friday morning.

Mobile Fire-Rescue Department companies responded to 1100 Arlington Street for reports of a home on fire in the area at approximately 12:56 a.m. Fire personnel described the home as “fully involved,” with thick smoke and flames visible.

Firefighters successfully extinguished all signs of fire within 35 minutes of arriving on scene. After fire suppression teams pushed flames back, two residents were discovered just outside of the home with varying degrees of injuries.

A 73-year-old female patient was treated on scene for smoke inhalation and possible respiratory burns. Medical personnel treated a 65-year-old male who suffered significant second- and third-degree burns to approximately 45% of his body. The male victim was transported to the hospital and is currently in critical condition.

A Mobile firefighter also sustained superficial burn injuries during the incident and was a transported to a local hospital for treatment.
