It took around 50 firefighters about an hour to extinguish the blaze, which broke out Wednesday afternoon at a three-story apartment building in the city's far North Dallas neighborhood.

A Dallas firefighter was injured during a two-alarm apartment blaze that had 50 firefighters responding Wednesday.

Crews were called to a fire at The Edge Apartments in the city's far North Dallas neighborhood just before 2:20 p.m., the department said in a statement. Once at the scene, firefighters noticed smoke coming from the top floor of the three-story building, and flames quickly spread to nearby apartments, forcing the incident to be raised to a second alarm.

Ladder pipes were used to get the fire under control, and crews then were able to enter the building to get the flames under control. It took about 50 firefighters around an hour to eventually put out the blaze, according to the department

Two firefighters suffered minor burns during the incident, and they were taken to the hospital for treatment. Initially, the department had reported that only one firefighter had been injured.

No one else was hurt, and residents safely escaped the building, the department added.

Flames damaged a minimal number of units, and other units in the building suffered water damage. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
