PITTSFIELD, MA—The woman killed in a Monday night house fire on Chickering Street has been identified as 74-year-old homeowner Frances Lysonski, according to the office of Berkshire District Attorney Andrea Harrington.
Lysonski died at Berkshire Medical Center of injuries suffered in the fire, which was reported just after 10 p.m. at 73 Chickering St. Firefighters found her on the second floor and rushed her to the hospital, according to Andrew McKeever, communications director for Harrington’s office.
A Pittsfield firefighter was also injured falling off a ladder, he said. He was taken to Berkshire Medical Center where he was treated and then released.
The fire apparently started on the first floor. It is believed to have been an accident.
The cause remains under investigation by the Pittsfield fire and police departments, the state Fire Marshall’s Office.
