Resident Contains Apartment Blaze until WA Firefighters Arrive

A Vancouver resident used a fire extinguisher to keep an apartment blaze in check until firefighters in three engines and two aerials reached the scene.

A resident used a fire extinguisher to keep an apartment blaze from spreading until Vancover, WA, firefighters arrived at the scene Saturday.

A Vancouver resident helped hold back an apartment fire on Saturday morning, according to a press release from the Vancouver Fire Department.

Three fire engines and two ladder trucks were dispatched at 5:52 a.m. to the Market Place Apartments at 2900 General Anderson Avenue in Vancouver. Firefighters arrived and saw smoke coming from a unit, and upon entering found clothes on fire in a closet.

The resident had been able to use a fire extinguisher to stop the fire from spreading further until the fire crews arrived and extinguished it, which “greatly reduced the size and extent of the fire,” according to the press release.

All residents and neighbors were safely evacuated and there were no reported injuries. The Vancouver Fire Marshal’s office is investigating the cause of the fire.
