Pennsylvania firefighters rescued a person from a row house roof during a three-alarm blaze Thursday.
The fire broke out at about noon at a three-story residence near Good Shepherd Rehabilitation Hospital in Allentown, and flames had engulfed the first floor of the house when crews arrived at the scene, The Express-Times reports. The blaze traveled through the walls and ceilings and spread to at least two nearby units.
A man was trapped on the roof of the burning house, and firefighters were able to get the person to safety. He was taken to the hospital, but details concerning his injuries and condition weren't released.
Crews spent several hours battling the fire. By about 4 p.m., the blaze was under control, and firefighters were putting out remaining hot spots, according to Fire Chief Jim Wehr.
“Just about every firefighter in Allentown” responded to the blaze, he told The Morning Call.
It wasn't clear how many people were displaced by the fire. The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
