Two Killed, Firefighter Injured in MD House Fire

More than 75 Baltimore County firefighters and EMS personnel responded to a blaze that broke out in the basement and spread to the first floor of a Catonsville home.

Nov. 27—Two people were killed and a firefighter was injured in a Friday morning house fire in Catonsville, Baltimore County fire officials said.

The two-alarm blaze in the 1300 block of Denbright Road began in the basement of the home and spread to the first floor. It was under control as of 9 a.m. Friday, said Lt. Travis Francis, Baltimore County Fire Department spokesperson.

The victims are an elderly woman and a male who has not yet been identified, Francis said.

"The home is a total loss," he said.

The firefighter, who suffered minor injuries upon entering the home, was treated on the scene, Francis said. More than 75 firefighters and EMS personnel responded, and investigators have yet to determine the cause of the blaze, Francis said.
