Three New York firefighters were among six people injured during a two-alarm residential fire over the weekend.
Buffalo crews responded to the fire shortly after 8:30 p.m. Saturday at a 2½-story home on the city's west side, The Buffalo News reports. Flames erupted on the first floor of the house before spreading to the upper levels.
A mayday was issued when a firefighter encountered water issues while battling the blaze. The firefighter, however, was able to escape through a first-floor window.
Three firefighters suffered non-life-threatening injuries during the call and were taken to the hospital. Three civilians also suffered smoke inhalation.
The fire eventually was brought under control by 9:30 p.m., and the flames caused around $400,000 in damage. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
