WA Firefighters Rescue Two from Balcony in Apartment Fire

Over 30 Spokane firefighters worked for more than three hours to control a fire that broke out at an apartment building, injuring one person.

Washington firefighters used ladders to rescue two people from an apartment fire early Tuesday.

The fire broke out shortly after 2 a.m.at a Spokane apartment building, the Spokane Fire Department stated in a news release. When crews reached the scene, they found flames shooting through the back and the side of the second and third floors of the structure.

Flames threatened two people and trapped them on a second-floor balcony. Firefighters used ground ladders to get them safely to the ground.

One person was taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation. No firefighters were during the call. 

Over 32 firefighters responded to the call and worked for more than three hours to control the fire. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
