Crews rescued people from terraces as flames shot through the fifth and fourth floors of a six-story condominium building, collapsing parts of the structure.

Two Salt Lake firefighters were injured battling a massive five-alarm residential fire early Monday.

The fire erupted at around 2 a.m. at one of three Incline Terrace condominium buildings, The Salt Lake Tribune reports. Flames were coming from the fourth and fifth floors of the six-story building as crews reached the scene.

Firefighters rescued several people trapped inside the building, using ladders to reach them on balconies and in windows. Some residents were evaluated for minor injuries at the scene.

Salt Lake City Fire Capt. Anthony Buton told KSL-TV that the fire proved challenging for crews because of the size of building, its location and the fact that many of the residents were sleeping at the time. The fire also collapsed parts of the building, according to the Tribune.

Two firefighters were injured during the call. They were taken to the hospital and later released.
