Aug. 3, 2021
Crews from Saukville and other departments were able to keep flames from spreading at a car dealership after a vehicle inside the service center caught fire.

A Wisconsin firefighter was seriously injured during a fire at a car dealership Monday.

Saukville Fire Department crews were dispatched to the Eric Von Schledorn dealership just before 6:30 p.m. after a vehicle caught fire in the service center, the department stated in an online update. They encountered heavy smoke coming from the center's garage because of the fire coming from the car's engine compartment, and additional departments were called to the scene.

One firefighter suffered serious injuries battling the fire and was taken to the hospital. No details were given about how the firefighter was hurt, but the injuries weren't considered life-threatening.

Firefighters were able to prevent flames from reaching other vehicles or spread to the rest of the building.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
