Five People Rescued in Apartment Fire Near WA Microsoft Campus

One person was seriously injured and two other people suffered minor injuries as firefighters worked to extinguish a fire that tore through an apartment complex in Bellevue.

Washington firefighters saved five people who were trapped in a burning apartment complex early Wednesday.

The fire broke out at about 4 a.m. at the Redmond Park Apartments near the Microsoft campus in Bellevue, KOMO-TV reports. Flames were shooting through the roof and front of the building, and at least five people were still inside when crews reached the scene.

According to an online update by the department, Bellevue firefighters initially attacked the fire from outside, and video from the scene shows crews working to put out flames in the attic. Firefighters were still extinguishing hotspots just after 6:15 a.m., KCPQ-TV reports

Three people were injured in the fire and taken to the hospital. One person was seriously injured and two other people suffered minor injuries. 

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
