Allentown firefighters battling a dwelling fire located and removed an adult male victim who died as a result of his injuries early Tuesday.

One person was killed in a fast-moving fire in a home on Allentown’s east side early Tuesday, officials said.

“One adult male was pulled from the home in the 600 block of North Randolph Street, and that is a confirmed fatality,” Allentown fire Captain John Christopher said.

The fire, reported around 4:30 a.m., had spread through the two-story, Cape Cod-style brick home by the time fire crews arrived, Christopher said.

“The heaviest portion of the fire was in the living room area of the house and extended to the upstairs,” he said, noting it took firefighters about a half hour to get the bulk of the fire knocked down.

Firefighters remained on scene for overhaul around 6 a.m., searching for areas that still were smoldering and could cause reignition of the flames.

Officials are investigating the cause of the fire.
