A four-alarm fire in Brooklyn Heights started on the second floor and quickly spread through multiple floors of a mixed-occupancy building.

At least four New York City firefighters have been injured fighting a four-alarm fire in a multi-story mixed-occupancy building in Brooklyn Heights Friday morning.

The fire located on the 100 block of Montague Street started on the second floor and spread upward through the building.

As the fire progressed, several FDNY firefighters were trapped for a short time on an upper floor before they were able to seek safety according to PIX 11 News.

While firefighters worked to ventilate the roof there was a partial collapse forcing crews to seek a safe location to continue operations.

Multiple handlines and aerial devices are in operation working to control this four-alarm fire.
