Bronx Fire Forces Family to Toss Children to Safety

Three children were thrown to safety from a Bronx 2nd Story window to escape a fast-moving structure fire.

A Bronx family had to toss three children from a second-floor window to safety in a fire that also had a mayday from a trapped FDNY firefighter Monday.

An adult and babysitter jumped to safety after tossing the kids  — ages 4 to 6 — when the fast-moving cut off their egress, according to WNBC New York.

When firefighters arrived, heavy fire was pushing from the first floor with extension to the second and third floors of the dwelling.

During operations, a firefighter became trapped and required the activation of the FAST unit who removed him from the second floor.

Four civilians were transported to a local hospital for treatment, including one who suffered serious injuries.

The three-alarm fire summoned 33 units and about 140 department personnel to the scene.
