As crews were battling the flames, they had to seek refuge in an SUV as a tornado passed over. Alvarado Fire Department Captain Brad Hargrove told CBS 11 News, “We looked up and it was coming right over the top of us.”
Firefighters are expected to be on scene for several days as they allow the fire to burn itself out and to prevent it from spreading to nearby properties.
