CO Departments Unveil Integrated Dispatch System

April 14, 2022
Multiple public safety agencies in the North Denver metropolitan area have implemented an integrated dispatch system.

The Thornton Fire Department, along with other nearby public safety agencies, have implemented a new integrated dispatch system called the CAD to CAD Project.

The new dispatching system allows dispatchers with North Metro Fire, Thornton Fire, Adams County Fire, South Adams County Fire and Brighton Fire to easily dispatch resources to each other in real time, KUSA-TV reported.

The CAD upgrades allow dispatchers from all agencies to view what resources are available and identify their location.

Thornton Deputy Chief Steve Kelley has been part of a team working on this improved system over the last five years.

Kelley said that under the new system they have dropped the sense of borders and are operating together, sending the closest unit to the emergency call.

Fire officials hope the new system could save one to five minutes of valuable time dispatching units on emergency calls.
