6 Injured in CA Apartment Fire

Sep. 13—Six people were injured Monday night after a fire ignited on the third floor of a Berkeley apartment complex, according to authorities.
Berkeley firefighters responded to the incident shortly before 5 p.m. at the 1300 block of Berkeley Way near Acton Street, according to Interim Deputy Fire Chief Keith May of the Berkeley Fire Department.
The fire was contained approximately 30 minutes after firefighters arrived on scene, according to May.
Three of the six victims were transported by ambulance to a local hospital with smoke inhalation injuries, May added.
Residents are encouraged to avoid the nearby area around the blocks of Acton and West as well as the 1300 block of University Avenue, according to Berkeley police.
No other information is available at this time as firefighters remain processing the scene.
