Firefighters rescued a 2-year-old boy from a burning apartment building in Granbury early Sunday morning.
The fire was reported to Hood County 9-1-1 just before 1:00 a.m. and, as crews arrived, they were told a child was trapped on the second floor, according to a post from the department on Facebook.
The crew on Granbury Volunteer Fire Department Engine 1 arrived and began rescue efforts, with firefighter B. Serratelli placing a ladder to a bedroom window on the second floor.
J. Head, a North Hood County firefighter, accessed the window and was able to remove the toddler from the apartment.
Firefighters removed the child down the ladder and turned him over to Texas EMS for treatment. The child was transported by medivac helicopter to Fort Worth.
Firefighters from Granbury, North Hood County, Tolar and Station 70 fire departments responded.
"We are all volunteers, but we are professionals. We train to the highest standards and expect that from all of our members," a statement from the department read.
