Firefighters and officials with the Davie, FL, Fire Rescue created a structural prop to resemble a single-family dwelling with holiday decorations and common furnishings. The demonstration is of a Christmas tree that has not been watered in over a week.
The Davies firefighters also shared safety tips from the National Fire Protection Association.

- Electrical distribution or lighting equipment was involved in 43 percent of home Christmas tree fires.
- Two of every five (40 percent) home Christmas tree fires started in the living room, family room, or den. Three-quarters of the fatalities and two-thirds of the associated injuries resulted from fires started in this area.
- The top three days for home candle fires are Christmas, New Year’s Day and New Year's Eve.
