Firefighters from multiple departments battled a two-alarm blaze at a Maryland dental office early Thursday.
The fire broke out at about 1 a.m. at Tidewater Dental in Lusby, Southern Maryland News Net reports. Crews from Prince Frederick, Hollywood, Huntingtown, St. Leonard, Solomons and Bay District responded to the blaze at the two-and-a-half-story building.
The 9-1-1 call initially reported a tree on fire, but that was changed to a building fire. Once firefighters arrived at the scene, they saw flames coming from the first and second floors, and the fire threatened a nearby building.
Explosions were reported from inside the building, and crews were ordered out of the building after a mayday call was issued just before 1:30 a.m., according to SMNN. The Solomons firefighter was able to make it out of the fire safely.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
