An East Northport couple met the Commack firefighters who rescued them from an overnight house fire, calling them heros

An East Northport couple had an emotional reunion with the Commack firefighters who rescued them from a house fire.

A neighbor's ring camera is what alerted people to the overnight house fire in April.

"I couldn't see anything in the room at all," Evelyn Cohen told CBS New York. She was trapped in one room and her husband, Harold, was trapped in another room.

Assistant Chief Christopher Ciaccio was among the first firefighters to enter the house.

"The kitchen, living room, the hallway was all on fire. I crawled through that ... When I made it into the bedroom, I saw that she was in the window, was having a really difficult time getting out," Ciaccio told the television station.

He found Evelyn at the window and lifted her through the window to two Suffolk County police officers who were outside.

Other firefighters rescued Harold and brought him to safety outside.

After being released from the hospital, Evelyn asked to meet her rescuers.

"You're all heroes. I don't know how you do it. That's what makes you all so special," she said.
