A house fire in Louisville Sunday claimed three lives, including two in their 50s and a man in his 80s.
Louisville Fire Lt. Col. Jason Colonel Golladay told WLKY: "As soon as we got there neighbors were telling us we had rescues inside. We had heavy fire on the second floor that was extending to the third. The initial crew pulled out one within two minutes of arrival," said Golladay.
The three people were taken to the hospital where they died.
"Life saving always comes first. When you first arrive and you have multiple rescues like that, that's your focus and it delays the firefighting side. So it gave the fire a little more time to spread," said Golladay.
Officials said all smoke alarms were working when they conducted a home inspection last October.
The cause remains under investigation.
