A Pawtucket firefighter who called a 'Mayday' after falling through the stairs at a house fire kept his composure and made it out on his own.
The lieutenant and another firefighter, who complained of chest pains, were transported to a hospital for treatment, WPRI reported.
Firefighters were evacuated from the house after he fell, and launched an exterior attack.
Two adults and five children were displaced after the blaze destroyed their home, which will be demolished.
The cause remains under investigation.
