A fire caused by lithium-ion batteries shut down GM's Factory Zero in Detroit Tuesday.
Heavy smoke spread through the 4.5 million square-foot plant causing firefighters to call for additional alarms, WDIV reported.
Plant officials cancelled the second shift after the incident. But no injuries were reported.
Among the electric vehicles assembled at the plant include the GMC Hummer EV pickup truck and SUV, the Chevy Silverado EV pickup truck, and the Cruise Origin.
