NJ Residents Jump from Balconies to Escape Blaze

Smoke alarms were working in the Edgewater Park apartment building.

Several people jumped from second-story balconies to escape an apartment fire in Edgewater Park early Thursday. 

A firefighter suffered smoke inhalation and a resident was burned in the fast-moving fire, 6 abc reported. 

Fire officials said the roof of the two-story building collapsed during the fire which went to two alarms. 

The cause is under investigation.
