A house explosion in Northfield Township left four people dead and two others critically injured.
The blast that reduced the house to a pile of rubble was felt by residents throughout the area, mlive reported.
Northfield Township firefighters and EMS crews from Huron Valley Ambulance found four bodies and two seriously injured people, said Marc Breckenridge, ambulance service spokesperson.
“(Firefighters) are being very meticulous about making sure there are no additional people to rescue inside the residence,” Breckenridge said.
A neighbor told WDIV: “It went off like a bomb. I don’t know how to explain it. It was the scariest thing I’ve ever seen. I live about 100 yards from him and by the time I drove there, there was still stuff falling from the sky.
No other homes iwere damaged. Debris was found scattered over a wide area including along a highway.
The cause of the explosion is under investigation. However, gas is expected, authorities said.
Seven ambulances and six fire departments responded to the scene, Breckenridge said.
