One person was injured Thursday morning in a gas explosion in Washington, D.C.
Fire and EMS officials had already evacuated the area due to the active leak, WJLA reported.
The one person hit by debris suffered minor injuries, Chief John Donnelly said at a press conference at 11:45 a.m.
Among those immediately evacuated from the area were more than a dozen children in a daycare facility next door.
The chief said gas has not been shut off.
