"It has ruined my whole year," Woman Says after Macon, GA, House Fire

Macon-Bibb firefighters said three historic houses were destroyed and others were damaged.

A person of interest is in custody after fire destroyed three historic houses and damaged others in Macon early Sunday.

Victoria Carruthers told WMAZ her dog woke her up.

Neighbors alerted Megan Orr about the fire telling her to get out quickly. She said jumping through the flames was very painful. 

"I just hope that if there's ever a fire, just please contain it. It has ruined my whole year by this point. My birthday's like in 11 days and I don't think I'm gonna be able to enjoy it," Orr said. 

Macon-Bibb Fire Chief Shane Edwards said six houses and s car were damaged.

A man was arrested for obstructing firefighters and refusing to leave the area. Police also said he is considered a person of interest.
