Everett, MA, Firefighter Rescues Child from Triple-Decker

The Mayday was cancelled when the firefighter emerged from the house with the girl.

An Everett firefighter rescued a thre-year-old girl from the third floor of the building Wednesday morning.

The child was taken to Boston Children's Hospital while the firefighter who also was transported to an area hospital. Both are expected to be OK, NBC 10 reported.

Two public works employees who saw smoke about 8 a.m., called 9-1-1, and went in to alert residents. They also informed fire crews about the child on the top floor of the triple-decker.

A Mayday was initially called, but was terminated soon after when the firefighter emerged from the building with the child. 

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
