FDNY EMS Treat Nine after Brooklyn Apartment Fire

July 16, 2024
A witness said a 'disturbed' man on the first floor lit the blaze that was discovered about 3 a.m.

A man is suspected of lighting a fire early Tuesday that left nine people in a Brooklyn apartment building injured.

"We had six dogs, a baby, my godson and his baby moms, which I had to run upstairs and try to save. I made sure everyone got out the best way they could," a resident told abc 7.

While the cause of the blaze is under investigation, a witness said a disturbed man on the first floor lit the fire.

"The second floor neighbor, thankfully, knocked our window. They were like 'oh there's a fire.' I pretty much told everyone inside my apartment to lets go because we live right across from the guy who set it on fire," the witness said.
