July 31, 2024
Firefighters encountered heavy smoke and fire at the laundromat in the Ocala strip shopping center.

An explosion at an Ocala laundromat Tuesday evening left four people injured.

Firefighters found a heavy fire and smoke coming from a laundromat in a strip mall.

Two of the four people hurt were transported to a hospital for treatment, according to Ocala Fire Rescue.

Firefighters made entry to control the fire impacting the rear of the structure, while rescue crews conducted search and rescue operations to ensure there were no other victims.

Inspectors assessed the building’s structural integrity, deeming the laundromat and seven adjacent shops inaccessible for regular operations.

The probe of the incident continues.
