Authorities are investigating a house fire in Plant City after four people were found dead early Wednesday.

Dispatchers with Hillsborough County Fire Rescue received a 911 call shortly after midnight from a homeowner reporting smoke and flames inside the home in the 6600 block of South County Line Road, according to a news release from the department.

The person said three adults and five dogs were trapped.

Firefighters arrived about eight minutes after being dispatched and worked to put out the blaze, fire rescue officials said. About five minutes after the first engine’s arrival, crews removed three people from the home through a bedroom window and then brought the fire under control within 20 minutes.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office said four people died at the scene. The agency has not released their names.

The sheriff’s office and fire rescue department were working to determine the cause of the fire.

“Our detectives are working closely with Hillsborough Fire Rescue to thoroughly investigate the circumstances surrounding this fire,” Sheriff Chad Chronister said in a news release. “Our priority is to uncover the cause and ensure the safety of the individuals in our community.”
