Massive Fire Destroys Church in Westminster, MD

Westminster firefighters called for a second alarm as well as a tanker task force to assist with the incident.

A firefighter was injured Thursday while battling a two-alarm fire at Clearfield Bible Church in Westminster.

Crews found heavy fire and smoke coming from the the brick church. The roof and two walls collapsed during the incident.

They called for a second alarm quickly due to the high temperatures. A tanker task force also was dispatched to shuttle water to the scene.

The firefighter was transported to a hospital and is expected to be OK, WJZ reported.

The cause remains under investigation by the state fire marshal's office.
