Firefighters responded to a home occupied by many in Brooklyn .

A Brooklyn firefighter was injured in a house fire early Saturday morning.

The fire on Ryder Avenue, in the Brooklyn neighborhood of Midwood, was reported just after 1 a.m. 

Fire department officials told News 12 that several people lived in the two-story home, and believe the fire started in the basement. 

firefighter and four residents were taken to the hospital with various injuries.
