A small plane crashed into a building of three-story condo units in Fairview near the Troutdale Airport Saturday morning, and three people are missing, according to the Gresham Fire Department.

The Federal Aviation Administration said in a statement to ABC News the plane was a twin-engine Cessna 421C.

The Troutdale Airport did not report any distress or emergency calls from the plane, according to the Gresham Fire Department.

Multnomah County Sheriff’s Deputy John Plock said calls starting coming in at about 10:20 a.m. with witnesses saying they saw an airplane go down. He said it hit a power pole, breaking power lines, which caused a brush fire.

Plock said the plane then crashed into a building of townhomes, which also caught fire.

Initial reports are that two people were on board the plane, according to Gresham Fire Chief Scott Lewis. He said one resident is also missing.

About 20 fire engines and ladder trucks from Gresham, Portland and Vancouver responded, Lewis said. Two condo units were initially on fire and it spread to a third and fourth.

Five or six families have been displaced by the fire, he said.

Lewis also said that two Portland General Electric transmission lines are down. The PGE website shows almost 6,000 customers in the area without power early Saturday afternoon.

This is a developing story that will be updated.
