Firefighters Contain Fire at Silsbee, TX, Septic Tank Company

Sept. 19, 2024
Silsbee Fire Chief Robin Jones said some firefighters were overcome by the extreme heat.

A fire at a septic tank facilty sent plumes of dark smoke billowing into the air.

"For the public there was no hazard vapors or anything that would cause any issues as far as breathing," Silsbee Fire and Rescue Chief Robin Jones told 12 news.

Some firefighters were transported to nearby hospitals after suffering heat-related issues after the extensive operation.

"We're monitoring the water runoff because of the resin that was in the water. We do have a company that is coming to vacuum up the water and do the hazmat part of it, but we did block off all the ditches and everything but we contained all the water,"  the chief said.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
