Late Friday afternoon, Columbus and other firefighters were still at the scene of a three-alarm fire in an auto scrap yard.

Fire and large plumes of smoke were seen coming from the piles of debris when firefighters responded about midnight.

Battalion Chief Jefferey Geitter told WBNS said fire officers requested the city increase the water pressure in the area to help contain the fire.

No buildings were damaged by the fire that will burn for some time. Geitter also said crews deployed four devices to monitor the air quality in the area.

While no hazardous conditions have been detected, fire officials encourages those with respiratory health issues to stay inside.

Geitter said it could take days before the cause is determined.
