One man was killed and others were displaced by a fire at a northwest Dallas mobile home park Saturday morning that officials say was the result of arson.

Jason Evans, Dallas Fire-Rescue spokesperson, said a call came in for a structure fire at about 6:30 a.m. in the 2600 block of Lombardy Lane. When firefighters arrived, they observed flames coming from the back of one of the mobile homes and two vehicles.

The fire quickly spread, Evans said. It took units two hours to extinguish the blaze, which ended at about 8:40 a.m. Doyle Rader, a communications manager for the American Red Cross North Texas Region, said six mobile homes were either destroyed or sustained damage. More than 14 residents were affected by the blaze.

“We are providing immediate assistance, including financial assistance and tending to any medical needs, to residents who need it,” Rader said.

Evans also said during suppression efforts, an unresponsive man was found inside one of the homes. Firefighters performed lifesaving measures and transported him to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Three dogs were also killed in the fire, Evans said.

Evans said later Saturday that investigators determined the fire was intentionally set. A woman, whose identity was not released, admitted to starting the fire. Evans said she was arrested and faces a charge of arson.
