Police are investigating the cause of a fire that swept through a former senior center in Elmont.
Firefighters were called to the multi-story co-op building on Foster Meadow Lane just after midnight, according to WABC.com.
Crews from several fire departments responded to the blaze, according to New12.com. Eventually firefighters fought the blaze defensively as it spread throughout the building.
Officials told LI Herald Elmont that the building was vacant after residents were removed following a 2023 flood.
The Nassau County Police Arson Bomb Squad and Fire Marshal's office are investigating the cause of the fire.
