A Maine firefighter was injured battling a wildfire that burned across 12 acres Monday.
More than a half-dozen fire service agencies throughout Oxford County responded to the fire in Brownfield, WGME-TV reports. It was initially spotted on the side of Frost Mountain during a flyover at about 1 p.m.
“One of the aircrafts that came in from Fryeburg airport spotted the smoke and then called it in as we were trying to locate it, and we used an aircraft to find it,” Brownfield Fire Chief Richard Perreault told WGME.
Although the flames didn't threaten any structures, the fire's location did create a challenge for crews trying to put it out.

“Terrain, getting to it, there’s no access by a vehicle. You accessed it by ATVs and that’s how you had to get to it,” Perreault said.
A firefighter was injured during the fire and taken to the hospital in stable condition. Although the extent of his injuries wasn't given, the firefighter was expected to stay overnight in the hospital.
Firefighters eventually contained the wildfire after several hours, according to WMTW-TV.
