SAVANNAH, Ga. - On July 31, Southside Communications dispatched the Southside Fire Department for a structure fire on Sylvania Road at Chevis Road just off highway 17.Crews responding saw heavy black smoke showing, and requested additional manpower and Garden City Fire to assist with an engine and tender. The fire was in a non-hydrant area of the county. DPO Chris Hanks reported it was a fully involved mobile home. The fire was knocked within minutes and the scene was secured.
Mobile Home Fire Battled in Georgia
SAVANNAH, Ga. - On July 31, Southside Communications dispatched the Southside Fire Department for a structure fire on Sylvania Road at Chevis Road just off highway 17.
Crews responding saw heavy black smoke showing, and requested additional manpower and Garden City Fire to assist with an engine and tender. The fire was in a non-hydrant area of the county.

During this fire, SSFD was also dispatched to Buckhalter Road for another structure fire.
Crews remained on scene making sure all the hot spots was completely out. The cause is unknown at this time.
