A total of 32 people, including 26 children, were hurt in a school bus crash on April 16 in East Greenwich, RI. The crash involved a bus from the Providence Recreation Department and one other vehicle and happened on Route 4 North near Exit 6 sometime around 3 p.m.
According to officials on scene, a car in the left lane veered into the right lane and struck the bus. The bus then went over the guard rail and into a wooded area off of the highway striking a tree.
The driver of the bus, a man in his 50's, was ejected from the vehicle and transported to an area hospital with serious injuries. The 26 children transported were treated for minor injuries.
In all, it took 10 rescues to bring all of the injured people to various hospitals; including Kent Hospital in Warwick and Hasbro Children's Hospital in Providence.
