North Tazewell, VA. — Two residents were flown Friday to a hospital outside the region after a structure fire was reported by neighbors in North Tazewell, VA.
Chief Josh Roberts of the Tazewell Fire Department said the call came in at 7:09 p.m. The fire involved a “fully involved single-story residential structure at 147 Clinchview Street.”
The department responded with 13 firefighters and three fire engines, Roberts said. Two of the home’s residents, whose names were not available, were taken to a landing zone set up at the Tazewell County Fairgrounds where helicopter ambulances flew them to a hospital outside the region. Roberts did not know which hospital was their destination.
“I can’t comment on the extent of their injuries,” Roberts said. “A man and a woman were flown out. Some neighbors got them out of the house before we got there.”
The Tazewell Police Department and Town of Tazewell EMS were also dispatched to the scene. Roberts said the fire’s cause was under investigation. The home was a total loss.
